Sandy Amerio

Born in 1973 in Paris.

Lives and works in Berlin and Paris.

In her work, Sandy Amerio initiates confrontations of contemporary society with the aesthetic codes and issues that circulate within it. Her films reveal the deeply heterogenous and violent nature of our realities, reflected in their representations. In an anthropological approach, she creates based on narratives and images that are parts of the collective unconscious. She is one of the pionneers of the notion of storytelling, with the film Hear me, children-yet-to-be-born and her fiction book Storytelling, index sensible pour agora non représentative (2004), jointly published by the ENSBA, the Ricard Foundation and the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers. She has participated in the exhibitions: Celebration (2010, Uqbar, Berlin), Double Vision (2010, Lu Factory, Nantes and Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo), Videos Europa (2009, Le Fresnoy, Tourcoing) and NY, NY, NY, so nice we named it thrice (2007, Flux Factory, New York), among others.
