Synopsis

Simon Quéheillard

Things like that

In Things like that, abandoned objects and rubbish of all kinds – cardboard packaging, empty tin cans and plastic bottles – are randomly scattered on the pavements of the streets of Paris. From one scene to the next, the objects appear juste like that, one after another, in a space defined by the camera’s frame. The film becomes a space where objects’ trajectories emerge; they are drawn out, influenced by all kinds of unintentional actions and unpredictable circumstances, that the film tries to trigger and to which it seems to attribute an intention. These elusive movements, tiny threads of events, appear like those patterns that we draw out in the sky in order to structure our perception, trying to arbitrarily link the stars in what we call constellations.
